GivingTuesday.org explains how Giving Tuesday was established:

“GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement that unleashes the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and their world.

GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past seven years, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.”

It goes without saying that 2020 has been a year unlike any other. 

We have all faced challenges that we never saw coming.  A day in the life of a police officer is much like this year - every time they don their uniform and sign on for shift, they will face challenges that they do not see coming.  They will respond to calls for service not knowing what awaits them, or how that call may affect them for years to come. 

These men and women choose to protect and serve our community despite the personal sacrifice and cost to themselves and their families.
